Thank Mike for this valuable article. It’s 2010 already and the information you put in the article will be valuable forever. I completely agree with everything you mentioned specially with the social media part.

Social media is must be used as a form of socialising with people and create a relationship with them. However, some people do not use it properly and try to use it to make a hard sell. It does not work.

Michael, I appreciate you have had to leave some things out, but I think you could have given “Video” a mention. Any newcomer to promoting their business online needs to learn about videomercials for s/e rankings and starting conversations.
As you rightly say, search engines are king, but the likes of YouTube are becoming search engines in their own right and are hot on their heels traffic wise.

Michael, again I am gleaning some points that I am missing from your posts…I want to considered your idea for affiliate marketing to assist in sales.
Because of some of the instructions that you shared in the book with Valeria, we have spent most of our time, prior to launch in just becoming involved.
I still use the 5 C's to guide my social strategy, even though I am still only chipping away at being effective.
