Getting Started In Social Media

This is a quick slideshow with some pointers and guidelines for getting started in social media. It’s a trimmed down Google presentation of a post I wrote last month titled, 40 key elements to getting started in social media. I will be focusing a lot more on slideshow presentations, this is my first one, so it might be a little rough around the edges.

Nothing new, on the other hand that's the point. So many people still do not understand the basics of human interaction let alone social media. Nicely put together – I´m sure it will help many people.

I enjoyed your slide presentation for its expanded insight into the information from the Ebook.
We used some of the 5 C's information to describe the components of a White Elephant Gift Exchange party.
We are very new to social media so we are finding great nuggets of wisdom from resources like this.
    Thanks for sharing!

I like what you highlighted in this post. I'm approaching my blog in a different way than most people tend to focus or advise, but I'm hoping it work out. Really wanting to add value in more ways than provide content pertinent to a specific niche, but working to foster a blog of two-way communication like you mentioned and helping people get a better idea of who I am.

Good stuff. =) Looking forward to see you make the most of the slideshow format – there's much more you can do than paragraphs of text! ;)

You might enjoy reading slide:ology and Presentation Zen, two excellent blogs (and books!) on presentation design. Have fun! =)

Loved the idea of Social Media consisting of the 5 C's. I guess there's nothing to argue with in this presentation, but I have never thought of SM essence being like 5C's. Oh, and great change of media from a normal text into a slide show.

    Peter,

Thanks for spending some time on the blog. I appreciate it. Please forgive me, I have been under a massive workload, and I'm finally getting back to my blog :-) I'm starting to experiment with some new stuff, presentations, video etc, it can put boring subject matter into a whole new context.

Did you happen to the read the e-book for marketing on the social web in 2009? LMK, I will send you the link.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Of course, I know how it can be to be under extreme workloads (why it took
    me so long to reply).

I will look forward to see your blog work with diverse media. I didn't get
the link for social web 2009 e-book, but I will search for it on your blog.

PS. Congrats with the blog for the little one :)

    Hi Mike,

Great idea presenting your ideas in a slide-show format. Would like more bullet points :)

Is this first one? I think a very professional or expert can write this and can sum all that in 37 slides. It was so interesting to read that I couldn't even think to leave since last slide. We are overusing each aspect of internet and it is not less than ruining our business ourselves. Thanks for all those wonderful tips.
