———–

The other night I did the deed that I have been putting off for so long. I cleaned out my Google reader account. I deleted everything including the dead weight I set off to, “trim only”. It was refreshing to finally have conquered this task, a true victory indeed. Rebuilding my G reader was the easy part, thanks to Toluu allowing me to export my newly created opml file back into G reader.

Toluu is a like a supermarket for rss feeds. Toluu imports your current feeds and finds matches based on your feeds and interests. The service will search for other users with interests similar to yours, almost like a dating service and will display the best matches accordingly. The site is still in beta, but has some nifty features under it’s hood. I use Toluu almost on a daily basis to discover new feeds, but primarily now as a back up to Google reader in terms of feed maintenance, discovery and rotation. Toluu can be joined currently by invite only. Please leave a comment below if you need an invite.

What’s your Toluu account?

    Mike,

Toluu as a supermarket of feeds, nice! I have found a couple new feeds I didn't know about because of the cleanup you have been doing, so thanks!

As you mention, we are still in private beta, so any suggestions or ideas are always welcome.

I really enjoy Toluu as well. It is a great feed discovery service. It has some strangeness… like I keep getting recommendations to read things I already subscribe to and the UI should be less 2.0ish and get more content on the page… Never the less I recommend to all.

I have been having the re-occurring thought to “prune” my g-reader as it has jumped too high on a daily basis with things that are just not appealing enough to dig beneath the surface. I would love an invite to Toluu. Thanks! mkoeneker@gmail.com :)

  45. I'll be trying out Toluu – my RSS reader, currently NetNewsWires – has about 10,000 feeds in there. Ok, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I really do like to click the Subscribe to RSS button whenever I come across an interesting site.

RSS news becomes kind of an overload. On the other hand, I do find that I have this amazing knowledge of what's “going on” in certain fields at any one time :-)
